the witches and the coven

Me, before January and classes and school sweep into my life like an overwhelming wrecking ball of terrifying obligations.

A short life update: Second semester of university has started and I’m just counting down the days until EVERYTHING EXPLODES into a MISERABLE VORTEX of DEADLINES AND ASSIGNMENTS. Also, textbooks—even online textbooks—remain hella expen$$$ive. Ninety-five bucks for a code to access homework embedded in a program I hate navigating? My god. Hooray for the plight of Every Student Ever.

My grudge against textbook manufacturers’ exploration of students aside, I wrote this response to the latest Rookie creative prompt last week—read it! It will bring whimsy into thine life.

Also! I’m studying The Martian and Gone Girl and other nuggets of pop culture in my new English class, and it is divine. I’m currently without friends in said class, but the people I did a recent discussion exercise with said they’d be my friends in the absence of my regular crew. I’m still kinda uncertain about the grading of the class, the way I always am when I don’t have a good grasp of the teacher’s/prof’s expectations and what they like to see in their students’ papers, but we shall see.

I don’t have much else to say, except that lentil soup remains a key component of my staple diet. Mmm.

I should probably get out of bed now because it’s 10:53 AM and I should be carpe-ing the diem. Up n’ at ’em!
